It’s no secret that cooking at home can be a big money saver. Just packing your lunch could save you $1,400! But sometimes when you get home from work tired and starving, cooking is the last thing you want to do. So October’s Simple Saver challenge is all about combating that problem! October’s saver challenge is to cook one make-ahead recipe each weekend this month. Et voila, you’ll save time and money on meals throughout the week.

October Saver Challenge

For those new to the challenge, I’ve set up a Simple Saver Series for 2015. Each month we take one small spending habit – i.e. grabbing Starbucks in the morning, ordering takeout – and throw it out the window. Eh, or commit to only doing it half the month, you know, whatever works. Stick to the challenges throughout the year and you can save $1,000 or more!

So for this month’s challenge, I’m just asking for a few hours of your time every week. Pick a make it ahead recipe – whether it’s a frittata to have for breakfast all week, or a chili to enjoy for lunch and dinner – and make it over the weekend. Then throughout the week you’ll have at least a few meals covered, where you can easily conquer your takeout temptations.

    Ohh great recipe round up. I am good about cooking but not good about making ahead and I am so bored with cooking that I know this would help!
